"gathering darkness" - grade


my two main characters from my nanowrimo this upcoming november: jared and caroline. caroline is a psychic who can skim minds and use telekinesis; i don't quite know about jared's powers yet, but he's at least empathic and pretty badass. they're superheroes, kinda. but they're more neutral than good, going for balance instead of some abstract utopia that the heroes often get wrong in the particular universe these two inhabit. they're shown without their masks because, frankly, i don't know how to design jared's without him becoming a ripoff of rorschach. but this is their superhero getup. jared looks more condescending than calm, but i've not quite figured out how to make his features look not-condescending from the front. ^^;

hrm. must name their heroic personae.

i'm thinking about cropping this.. but it pains me, after all that time spent on those damn background buildings. :faint:

Sweeeeeeeeet. Oddly enough, it looks like something out of a fashion mag.

For Jared, I think as long as you don't make the mask look like a Rorshach test, it won't look like Rorshach.... :giggle: But actually you know what would be cool? A black mask. Cloth, fitted, covering everything, and black. That way, he could have the black screening that mascots and Disney World characters use over the eyes and mouth. Or white. Or... tie-dye. Honestly there's a lot of options here.

*snrrrrk* yeah, that is precisely why his pose looked weird. :XD:

lol, that was originally the idea. there was some funky cloth that was a plot point or something, but i really like the all-black idea. very nifty, and it would work even better with some other thing i was thinking of..

story actually came from a bizarre dream, in which i was psychic and my unique abilities attracted the unwanted attentions of this rich guy, who then tried to kill people via some virus in an enclosed area in an attempt to make me do what he wanted. i was rescued (or rather, given the materials to save everyone) by the hero guy, who had some weird rule about "now you've seen my face, you have to join my group", and he had a bunch of sidekicks with the masks of the aforementioned material. it's complicated. and needs much more work before november. ^^;
